Beargrass Protogrove

Beargrass Protogrove, ADF is a local congregation of Druids formed in 2026 to serve the Louisville Metro and Southern Indiana area.

We host free, public rituals for the eight High Days that are shared by many modern Pagan traditions.

We also have picnics, coffee klatches, potlucks, and other get-togethers, living our shared belief in the importance of building community.

As we grow, we plan to offer study groups, workshops, activities for children and families, and rites of passage.

What is Druidry?

Druidry is a modern, Earth-centered spiritual practice and philosophy. It seeks to help us attune to nature by celebrating the changing seasons and to seek wisdom from the observation of and meditation on the natural world around us. It uses old tales and mythologies in order to express various truths and apply their wisdom to our lives today. Through this, Druidry supports personal growth and self knowledge, the knowledge of nature and the world around us, and forms a deep appreciation for ecology and for our own personal creativity, through which we give back to this world.

What is ADF? ADF, or Ár nDraíocht Féin (Our Own Druidry), also called A Druid Fellowship, is a national organization that seeks to combine scholarship and artistry in spiritual practice in order to form a strong, modern Paganism. It encourages research into modern, in-depth scholarship of ancient, Indo-European Pagans as well as the building of skills and arts that create and inspire a modern spiritual practice that can serve today's Pagans. They have created a system of training and learning for solitary practitioners and Groves alike, and are building a system of guilds devoted to traditional spiritual, physical, and artistic skills. They encourage a community that provides social activities such as weddings and other rites of passage along with these studies, to enrich the soul.

How do I join the Protogrove?

You don’t have to be a member of ADF to attend rituals or activities- we are happy to have you as a Friend of the Protogrove!

That said, we find that ADF membership is worth considering. The membership fee is $35 annually ($50 if you want the quarterly ADF magazine mailed to you). The fee covers access to all of ADF’s study programs and guilds, lots of articles, and their library on the Libby app. You do need to be a member of ADF to be a full Member of the Protogrove.

Inclusion

Our Protogrove values inclusion and diversity! We welcome all people of good will regardless of race, sex, gender, age, ethnicity, sexuality, or experiences.

The following comes from ADF's Inclusion Statement:

Ár nDraíocht Féin is committed to upholding all members in a warm and welcoming environment. We are dedicated to providing a safe space for all of our members no matter their race, sex, gender, age, ethnicity, sexuality, or experiences. ADF seeks to build a community that encourages, understands, appreciates, and accepts diversity. We will work proactively to cultivate an environment where differences are embraced and the diversity of human expression is valued. ADF believes that our community is stronger when all members have a voice and are encouraged to contribute.

We welcome you, and hope you consider us as a possible spiritual home!
